Discover the Essence of Islam

Islam, meaning “submission” to the will of God, is a global faith rooted in the belief in one all-powerful Creator, known as Allah, who guides humanity through compassion, mercy, and justice. Revealed in the 7th century to the Prophet Muhammad in Arabia, it offers a complete way of life, encouraging followers to build a personal relationship with God, uphold ethical values, and contribute positively to their communities. At its core, Islam seeks to foster inner peace and harmony with others, emphasizing that every individual is equal in the eyes of God. As it was revealed in its current form to Prophet Muhammed around the 7th century, Islam has been the same religion of God, Allah since the beginning of creation. It was revealed to all the messengers and prophets who came before Mohamed (PBUH) including Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus and many others. It was always revealed by Allah in a format that fits the time and context of the addressed people. True Judaism, and true Christianity are simply Islam.

Understanding Islam's Core Attributes

Islam is a faith rich in beliefs, practices, and values that guide the lives of over two billion people globally. Central to Islam are the Five Pillars, which include the declaration of faith, prayer, almsgiving, fasting, and pilgrimage. These practices are deeply rooted in the teachings of the Quran and the Hadeeth, shaping the spiritual and social framework of Muslim communities. Additionally, values such as compassion, justice, and humility are emphasized, fostering a sense of unity and purpose among followers.

Five Pillars of Islam

1- Declaration of Belief

Islam emphasizes the belief in one God, Allah, who is the creator and sustainer of the universe. Any Muslim must testify and declare the belief in the one and only God, Allah, and that Mohamed (PBUH)  is his servant and messenger.

2- Salah (Prayer)

Muslims perform five daily obligatory prayers, which serve as a constant reminder of their faith and devotion.

3- Zakah (Charity)

Giving to those in need is a fundamental aspect of Islam, promoting social welfare and community support.

4- Sawm (Fasting)

During month of Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn until sunset, fostering self-discipline and empathy for the less fortunate.

5- Hajj (Pilgrimage)

for at least once in a lifetime, Hajj is a must for those who can financially afford the pilgrimage to Makkah and who have the physical fitness needed for the pilgrimage activities.

Six Pillars of Faith

1- Belief in Allah

The belief that becomes rooted in the heart that Allah is the only God and crerator of everything. Allah has no associates, sons, or anything similar to him. Allah is not the father of anyone and creates by saying ‘Be’ and the creation comes to existance at his command.

2- Belief in the Angels

Angels are part of the unseen worlds. They are create from light by Allah. The only follow the commands of Allah and they never disobey Allah. The names of some angels are revealsed to us. For example ‘Jibreel, Michael, and Israfeel’

3- Belief in the Revealed Scriptures

We beleive in all the original scriptures revealed by Allah to his messengers. These include the Torah (Moses), the Injeel (Jesus), the Zaboor (David). However, the Quran is the only scripture that remains today in its original forma and as the last scripture and revelation from Allah overriding any previous scriptures that have been lost or coruppted by humans.

4- Belief in the Messengers

We believe in all the mesengers and prophets sent by Allah. We have been told about them in the Quran and by the Prophet Muhammed (PBUH). These messengers and prophets include for example: Adam, Nuh (Noha), Ibrahim (Abraham), Is-haq (Isac), Yakoub (Jacob), Yosug (Joseph), Hud, Salih, Ayoub, Younis, Shoaib, Lut, Mosa (Moses), Zakariya, Isa (Jesus), and the final prophet and messenger Muhammed (PBUH). We believe in all of them as revelad to us in the Quran.

5- Belief in the Last Day

This life is temporary, we die, and then we will be resurrected again in the day of judgement. We beleive in life after death as revealed to us by Allah.

6- Belief in Divine Decree (Al-Qadar)

Everything the happened or will hapen is part of the written destriny of Allah’s creation. Allah knows what will hapen in future. We have been given the choice between good and evile and between obeying or disobeying Allah in this life. Allah know what our choices will be as he is not limited by time.
